Artistas Revolucionarios at CHAC in August!
Artistas Revolucionarios
August 1st through August 30th
First Friday Opening: Aug 1st, 6-10 pm
A daring palette, subversive strokes and renegade self-expression are
characteristics of Artistas Revolucionarios; a slightly less than
seditious show on display through August that showcases the talent of
six emerging and established Denver Latino/a artists.
The
work, which includes a superb collection of colorful paintings,
drawings and jewelry, serves as a glorious reminder of the vibrant
cultural art scene our city has to offer.
Las artistas
are CHAC Board Members Tony Vecchio, Danny Vigil, Javier Flores and
Jeanette Montoya; CHAC's Education Director, Veronica Herrera; and this
year the show includes notable CHAC member JOLT.

BIOS:
Stevon Lucero
From an early age, Stevon Lucero viewed things in life with a profound sense of spirituality and symbolism. While growing up in the city of Laramie, Wyoming, Stevon Lucero remembers being very inquisitive and curious about spiritual themes. He began exploring the perception of reality and similar subjects.
During his high school years, after deeply concentrating on these themes, Stevon was seeing everything in a metaphoric way and was applying symbolism to practically everything around him. "I was a Symbolist without even knowing," Stevon remarks.
During the end of the Sixties, Stevon took his talent more seriously, particularly after a vision that he experienced on the top of a mountain. After this experience he began categorizing his work as "Metaphysical Fantastic Realism." The concept later evolved into what he calls "Metarealism" where the conscious and subconscious merge together.
James Penny
To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower; to hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour--is inspiration. - William Blake
This month at CHAC Norte, local Denver Artist Michael J. Penny will be sharing his collection of inspirational nature inspired art pieces. His work will include a broad collection of fine pieces including special art pieces inspired by nature, spirituality, life and living.
Michael's unique ability to reproduce an artifact look in a new world setting sets his work apart from any other artist. The combination of deep relief sandblasting in stone with fine detailing is both unique and of the highest quality. The final product of stone tile art pieces and embellishments is something that is guaranteed to please each and every one who views his work.
Michael’s work will be on display August 1- 30, 2008. Stop by to meet the artist First Friday August 1st. Custom work is also available by special order.
You can visit his web site at www.archembellishments.com.
Rebecca Rozales
After thirty years of creating art Rebecca Rozales likes to mix it up and is happy to say that she doesn’t feel confined to one single process or approach. Art is her key to look in and Rebecca feels fortunate that she took time to learn the basics and being exposed to art in the public schools.
“We are living in exciting times with technology at our finger tips and continual change assists the creative process, understanding this change is freedom.”
